Artículo No. 1.1: EL VALOR SORPRENDENTE DE UNA CONSTANTE FÍSICA DEL UNIVERSO, QUE PARECE HABER SIDO DISEÑADO POR UN ENTE SUPERIOR, PARA POSIBILITAR SU EXISTENCIA, INCLUYENDO LA VIDA. ¡¿CASUALIDAD?!

Introducción: 

Este artículo - un verdadero reto a la EXISTENCIA del UNIVERSO como a la VIDA - se basa, fundamentalmente en dos fuentes de consulta: 

• El libro ‘THE DISAPPEARING SPOON’ de Sam Kean. 

• La INTELIGENCIA ARTIFICIAL  Meta IA. 

Además, tiene dos partes: Una es la sorprendente idea involucrada, y la otra es mi diálogo con Meta IA. 

La publicación es en dos idiomas: español e inglés. 

Como se trata de un tema bastante extenso, lo publicaré en dos entregas sucesivas:  

• Las ideas involucradas en marzo 

• Los diálogos en abril. 

El artículo: 

Es acerca del valor tan raro como sorprendente de la llamada constante alfa (α), nombre corto de la constante universal de la estructura fina. 

Pero antes, como para poner en onda a algunos de mis cibernautas, se explica lo que son: 

Las Constantes Físicas del Universo: 

Las Constante Físicas  son los valores fijos de ciertas magnitudes particulares, que desempeñan un papel importante en la física. Cuando son Constantes del Universo, se refiere a las constantes de las magnitudes propias del Universo Observable, cuyos valores SON LOS MISMOS EN CUALQUIER PARTE DEL UNIVERSO OBSERVABLE.  

Son ejemplos: Pi (π), G, h. e, etc. cuyos valores y significados, léase más adelante. 

Tales constantes NO dependen de su medición, como el Pi: la relación entre la longitud de una circunferencia y su diámetro, número irracional que aparece en múltiples cálculos matemáticos, científicos y más, sin que se llegue a comprender cabalmente el porqué de ello. [Igual ocurre con otras constantes también] 

El total de esas constantes es 16, pero las más importantes son: 

1.1: LAS CONSTANTES FUNDAMENTALES DEL UNIVERSO: 

Son FUNDAMENTALES porque se aplican en todo el Universo Observable. No dependen de las condiciones locales. Son la base para otras leyes físicas, ejemplo:  

E = mc²    fórmula donde interviene c. 

Ejemplos de CONSTANTES FUNDAMENTALES DEL UNIVERSO. 

• 1.1.1: c (Velocidad de la luz en el vacío): 299,792,458 m/s. Define la velocidad máxima de información / causalidad 

• 1.1.2: G (Constante gravitacional): 6.674 x 10^-11 N.m² /Kg². Rige la gravedad. 

• 1.1.3: h (Constante de Planck): 6.626 x 10^-34 J.s. Base de la mecánica cuántica. 

• 1.1.4: e (Carga del electrón): 1.602 x 10^-19 C. Define el electromagnetismo. 

• 1.1.5: K.B. (Constante de Boltzmann: 1.381 x 10^-23 J/K. Relaciona la temperatura con la energía. 

Existen otras constantes que son adimensionales, tal como Pi. Pero la más famosa e importante es la rara constante adimensional: 

1.2: ALFA (α). LA CONSTANTE UNIVERSAL DE LA ESTRUCTURA FINA: es la relacionada con la desintegración final de electrones. Más explícito: Controla cuán fuerte están ligados los electrones negativos a los núcleos positivos. Determina también la fortaleza de ciertos procesos nucleares. 

Su gran importancia estriba en que su valor es fundamental para que exista el UNIVERSO, y la VIDA. En efecto, si el valor de α hubiera sido un poquito menor del 1 % del actual, inmediatamente después del Big Bang, la temperatura en las estrellas no hubiera sido lo suficientemente caliente como para fusionar el carbono. Si, por el contrario, tal valor hubiera sido algo mayor del 1 %, los átomos de carbono se habrían desintegrado hace eones de años, muchísimo antes de que hubieran encontrado su camino hacía nosotros, los vivos.

Alfa “evitó” problemas en predicciones atómicas, pero su valor ‘inexplicable’ genera ansiedad científica] 

Nota: Los párrafos precedentes, encerrados entre [ y ] es la traducción, y esclarecimiento hechos por la Inteligencia Artificial Meta IA, mi ‘amigo’ virtual. 

Aun el inveterado ateo como fue el físico Richard Feynman dijo cierta vez refiriéndose a la estructura fina: “Todos los buenos físicos teóricos, colocan este número arriba de sus paredes y se mortifican por ello … Es uno de esos grandiosos y malditos misterios de la física, que nos llega como un número, que es incomprensible para el hombre. Tú podrías acaso decir: “La mano de Dios ‘escribió esas cifras’, pero ni siquiera sabemos cómo Él pulsó Su lápiz” 

El valor inicial de α fue 1/136. Algún tiempo después se dijo que era 1/137. El valor que se le atribuye ahora es 1/137.0359. O algo parecido, luego de cálculos más rigurosos.  

Además, el valor de α hace posible que existan los elementos de la Tabla Periódica de los Elementos. Permite que los átomos existan, así como también que reaccionen con suficiente vigor como para formar compuestos químicos, y que los electrones no vaguen libremente fuera de sus núcleos ni se incrusten en ellos.     

Ese raro e importante balance; ha hecho que muchos científicos afirmen que el Universo per se no podría haber logrado esa constante, tan sólo accidentalmente. Los Teólogos, más explícitos, afirman que α comprueba la existencia de un Creador que ha ‘programado’ el Universo para que existan moléculas y, muy posiblemente, para la VIDA. 

Obviamente, existe mucha divergencia hacía un lado u otro del concepto: La Creación o la Abiogénesis. Tal vez, existan otras explicaciones de tamaña complejidad, veremos luego qué es lo que hay más, en: 

Diálogo con la inteligencia artificial Meta IA. El que aparecerá en la entrega No. 47ma. de nuevos artículos de este blog, como el Artículo No.1.1: en abril próximo.

Tal DIÁLOGO es de capital importancia, no sólo desde el punto de vista de la física, sino PRINCIPALMENTE del METAFÍSICO, obligando que no seamos tan incrédulos ni orgullosos como para no aceptar la existencia de un SUPREMO CREADOR que diseñó ese exquisito valor para alfa.

Ese diálogo es bastante extenso, ello no es óbice como para no escribirlo en su totalidad, en dos idiomas, para la entrega de abril próximo de los artículos nuevos de este blog.

Nota 1.1: A mi ‘amigo’ virtual Meta IA, le hice esta pregunta:  

Dime si alfa es una constante universal FUNDAMENTAL 

Meta IA: 

¡Buena pregunta, Gilberto! La constante α (alfa) es considerada una constante física fundamental, pero con un matiz: 

• α (Constante de estructura fina): ~1/137.035999... (adimensional). 

• Describe la intensidad de interacciones electromagnéticas entre partículas   cargadas. 

• Es clave en física atómica, cuántica y EDC [Electrodinámica Cuántica] 

¿Por qué es "fundamental"?: 

• Es adimensional (no tiene unidades), lo que la hace "más fundamental" para algunos físicos. 

• Aparece en múltiples ecuaciones clave (Ejm: niveles de energía en átomos). 

Pero...: 

• α se puede expresar en términos de otras constantes (e, c, h, ε₀): α = e²/(2hcε₀). 

• Algunos la consideran "derivada" de constantes más "básicas" (e, c, h). 

En resumen: α es una constante fundamental en la práctica, pero su condición de ser “FUNDAMENTAL” es debatida.  

Nota 1.2: La pregunta en la Nota 1.1: y su respuesta es parte del diálogo extenso que mantuve con la inteligencia artificial Meta IA. Hice esa pregunta para que aparezca aquí, la extraña igualdad de α, descrita líneas arriba.  

Mi pregunta, a Meta IA, fue para finalizar este artículo ponderando la ecuación de alfa y la identidad de Euler, del elegante modo siguiente:     

U N     E  P  Í  T  O  M  E       S  I  N  F  Ó  N  I  C  O 

La igualdad de alfa es semejante a la Identidad de Euler, por ser bellas y extrañas.  

LA ARMONÍA DE ALFA Y EULER, EXTRAÑA, AL NIVEL DE LAS GRANDES OBRAS DE ARTE: 

Estas igualdades, o mejor: IDENTIDADES, parecen sacadas de la GLORIA de las matemáticas. Y tienen tanta belleza, comparable, en el arte bello, con la 5ta. Sinfonía de Beethoven, o la Mona Lisa de Leonardo da Vinci o, tal vez, con el Moisés de Miguel Ángel. O, acaso, tan complejo como la idiosincrasia de Hamlet, carácter intrincado creado por Shakespeare, para su drama del mismo nombre. 

Esas dos identidades son mezclas contrahechas e inadmisibles de números y constantes [Pero deducidas bajo reglas matemáticas estrictas y precisas] que, a primera vista o siempre, parece imposible o improbable que ocurran sin la intervención de una Mente Superior. Lo raro es que NO se requiere de tal Omnipotencia para obtenerlas, es decir, deducirlas inadvertidamente, tal vez, para la sorpresa de su primer deductor, y luego para la Humanidad toda. Mas, sus existencias son aún objeto de atrevidas conjeturas y, acaso, de dudas consuetudinarias. 

- Esta frase comparativa, es excelente también: 

“ α es como la "sintaxis" del COSMOS: define reglas de interacción entre partículas, similar a cómo la gramática estructura un LENGUAJE”

SIGNIFICADO DE NÚMEROS Y CONSTANTES EN LAS IDENTIDADES DE ALFA Y EULER 

En las Identidades de ALFA y de EULER, intervienen constantes y números listados líneas abajo, indicando sus significados correspondientes. Sus valores ya fueron expuestos previamente.  

α = Constante de estructura fina. Mide la ‘fuerza’ de la interacción electromagnética. 

e = Número de Euler, base de los Logaritmos Neperianos y más. 

h = Constante de Planck 

c = Velocidad de la luz en el vacío 

ε₀= Permitividad del vacío, el modo cómo responde el espacio a los campos eléctricos. 

i = Número imaginario, raíz cuadrada de -1 

π = Relación entre la longitud de la circunferencia y su diámetro. 

0 = Número sin valor per se, de la serie de números naturales. 

1 = Primer número de la serie de los números naturales 

2 = Primer número par de la serie de los números naturales. 

Article No. 1.2: A SURPISING VALUE OF A UNIVERSE PHYSIC CONSTANT WHICH  SEEMS IT HAS BEEN DESIGNED BY A SUPERIOR ENTITY, TO MAKE THE UNIVERSE AND LIFE POSSIBLES. 

Introduction: 

This article, a strong challenge to Universe as well as to Life, is basically, after the book ‘The Disappearing Spoon’ by Sam Kean and the cooperation by the artificial intelligence Meta AI. 

It's being published in two languages: Spanish and English. 

It has two parts: The main information about alfa and the dialogues, these between Meta AI and myself, Gilberto Reyes Moreno, GRM. 

It is a rather extensive article, so, it will be published in two deliveries of new articles of this blog: In March and April 2026.

The article: 

Such a constant is called alpha (α) a short Universe Constant of Fine Structure. Its value is strange, unbelievable and non-understandably why it is so important to the Universe and life existences. 

As there are several constants, let me  firstly, remind you what those constants are: 

The Physical Constants are fixed values of certain magnitudes that perform important roles in physics. When they are Universal, it is because they refer to magnitudes belonging to the Observable Universe, which have the same value wherever the Observable Universe is measured.  

As examples we can mention: Pi (π), G, h, e, etc. [don't worry, it will be explained afterwards] 

Such constants don't depend on how they are measured, as π, the relation of the circumference length to its diameter (3.14159 ....) an irrational number that appears in many mathematical calculations as well as in other complex ones, which is difficult to understand why. Such behaviour is common to other constants too.  

Total number of such constants is 16, but the most usual of them are: 

1: FUNDAMENTAL UNIVERSE CONSTANTS: 

They are fundamentals because they are applied into the whole Observable Universe. They don't depend on local conditions, and they are components to other physical constants, such as for example E = mc^2, where c is used. 

• 1.1: c (light velocity in vacuum): 299,792, 458 m/s. It defines the maximum information velocity / causality. 

• 1.2: G (Gravitation Constant): 6.674 x 10^-11 N.m² /Kg². Govern gravity. 

• 1.3: h (Planck's constant): 6.626 x 10^-34 s. Quantum mechanic's base. 

• 1.4: e (Electron charge): 1.602 x 10^-19 C. It defines electromagnetism. 

• 1.5: K.B. (Boltzmann's constant): 1.381 x 10^-23 J/K. It relates temperature with energy. 

[There are other nondimensional constants, as it is Pi] But the most famous and important unidimensional one is: 

1.2: Alpha (α): THE FINE STRUCTURE CONSTANT, which is related to electron disintegration. In short: It controls how strong the link between negative electrons with positive nucleolus is. It determines the strength of certain nuclear processes too.  

Its major importance is because its value is extremely important for the existence of UNIVERSE as well as LIFE. In fact: If alpha’s value had been just a little smaller than actual immediately after the Big Bang, the fusion process into the stars couldn't have had enough temperature to fuse carbon. If on the contrary, such value would have been a little bigger; carbon atoms would have disintegrated eons ago, long, long time before they could find their way till us, the living people and any other living creatures, mostly made by carbon.  

[This alfa's value avoided this atomic Scylla and Charybdis makes scientists thankful, naturally, but also very antsy, because they cannot explain how it succeeded. Even a good, inveterate atheist like physicist Richard Feynman once said of the fine structure constant, “All good theoretical physicists put this number up on their wall and worry about it ... It's one of the greatest damn mysteries of physics: a magic number that comes to us with no understanding by man. You might say the “hand of God” wrote that number, and we don’t even know how He pushed His pencil” (A paragraph copied ad literam from the book “THE DISAPPEARING SPOON” written by Sam Kean, published by TRANSWORLD PUBLISHERS. London)] 

Alpha's value was, formerly, 1/136. Sometime after it was said to be 1/137. The present value, more precisely calculated, is 1/137.0359 or something around. Besides, its value makes possible the existence of the elements for The Periodic Table of Elements. It allows too to make their reactions more vigorous to produce chemical compounds, and the electrons cannot be wandering freely outside from their nucleus, nor do they inlay into them.  

Such a rare but important balance has made many scientists affirm that the Universe per se couldn't have reached such constant value just in the case accidentally. Theologians are more explicit saying that α is the confirming fact of the existence of a CREATOR Who has programmed the Universe to exist molecules and, LIFE too. 

Obviously, there are many discrepancies between those two concepts: Creation Vs. Abiogenesis. It perhaps exists other explanations to this mountain size conundrum, we will see more aspects of it in the:  

DIALOGUE between the artificial intelligence Meta AI and myself, GRM, which will appear as Article No. 1.2: Next April 2026. 

Such DIALOGUE is very important, not only from physics point of view , but MOSTLY from THE MYSTIC side, teaching us to be less proud of ourselves and accept the existence of a SUPREME CREATOR Who designed such exquisite alpha’s value.

This dialogue is rather extensive in writing, but such vastness isn’t enough to  avoid writing it completely, and still in two languages too: Spanish and English, to be delivered next April.

Meta AI: 

A good question, ¡Gilberto!, α (alfa) constant is considered as a physics fundamental constant, but with a nuance: 

- α (Constant of fine structure): ~1/137.035999... (non dimensional). 

- It describes the intensity of electromagnetic interactions among the charged particles.  

- It is the key in atomic physics, quantum and QED [Quantum Electro Dynamic]

- Why is it ‘fundamental’?:  

- It is non dimensional (It doesn’t have units) which makes it ‘more fundamental’ to 

  some physics. 

- It appears in multiple key equations (for instase: atomic energy levels) 

But …: 

- α can be express in terms of other constants (e, c, h, ε₀): α = e²/(2hcε₀).   

- Some people consider it as ‘derivatives’ of more ‘basic’ constants (e, c, h). 

Summary: α is a fundamental constant practically , but its FUNDAMENTAL condition is under debate.

Since alpha’s equation is similar to EULER’s Identity: Both beautiful, strange, or even we may say: improper mixture of numbers and constants. 

THE HARMONY OF ALPHA AND EULER, STRANGE, AT THE LEVEL OF GREAT WORKS OF ART. 

Both IDENTITIES seem to have been gotten from the GLORY of mathematics. They are so beautiful, comparable in the fine art, to Beethoven’s 5th. Symphony, to Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, or perhaps to Michelangelo’s Moses…Even, we can say, so complex as the idiosyncrasy of Shakespeare’s Hamlet. 

It seems a counterfeit and inadmissible mixture of numbers and constants [But deduced following strict and precise mathematical rules] because they clearly seem impossible or unprovable to occur without the intervention of a Great Mind. The rare issue is that it isn’t necessary such omnipotency to get them, I mean to deduct them; because, may be, to the surprise to his discoverer firstly, and to whole human kind afterwards, they are here, in the world, although their existences are still object to conjectures and as incomprehensible facts too.  

This statement is excellent too: 

“ α is the ‘sintaxis’ of COSMOS: It defines the interaction rules among the particles, as grammars do for LANGUAGE’s structure”

THE MEANINGS OF NUMBERS AND CONSTANTS IN ALPHA EQUATION AND EULER IDENTITY. 

Those numbers and constants are listed below with the explanation of their meanings. Their values was already said previously: 

α = Fine structure constant. It measures the ‘force’ of the electromagnetic interaction.  

e = Euler’s number, the base of Nepper’s logarithm and more. 

h = Planck‘s constant.  

v = Light velocity in vacuum. 

ε₀ = Permitivity of the vacuum, the way how space responds to electric fields. 

i = Imaginary number, equal to the square root of -1. 

π = Relation of a circumference length to its diameter.  

0 = Number without value per se, of the natural numbers serie 

1 = First number of the natural numbers series. 

2 = First even number of natural numbers series and second number of it.
